The PhD Computing program is interdisciplinary and intended to encompass a spectrum of computing fields under a single high-quality research doctorate. Currently it has three emphases:
Computational Science & Engineering
The Computational Science & Engineering emphasis focuses on construction of mathematical models and quantitative analysis techniques and use of computers to analyze and solve scientific and engineering problems.
The Computer Science emphasis focuses on theory, design, development, and application of computer and software systems, and the development of algorithms for data search, manipulation, and analysis.
The Cyber Security emphasis focuses on protection of computers, networks, programs, industrial control systems, and data from unintended or unauthorized access, change, or destruction.
The Data Science emphasis focuses on using scientific, mathematical, and statistical methods, processes, and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data.
